Newspapers across the country have editorialized in support of Hillary Clinton for President, and from the most respected papers, to the largest cities, to papers of all sizes in the most important swing states, they have made the stark contrast between Trump and Clinton and climate and clean energy action key to their endorsements. Here are some of the top from around the country:

Miami Herald - The Miami Herald Recommends Hillary Clinton for President of the United States

“Ms. Clinton understands the urgency of climate change, and as her recent local appearance with former Vice President Al Gore highlights, she gets that South Florida is Ground Zero for the ravages of sea-level rise. More important, Ms. Clinton has laid out a multi-pronged achievable plan to tackle it”

Asheville Citizen-Times, NC -Editorial board: Clinton is the only qualified pick for president

“North Carolina also saw its hottest summer in the history of our state this year, and we need a leader who believes the threats to our climate are more than a Chinese hoax. Of the two choices, only Clinton even acknowledges climate change’s reality, and even better, she has a plan to address it.”

Houston Chronicle - These are unsettling times that require a steady hand: That’s Hillary Clinton

“On energy, an issue of importance to Houston, she acknowledges the seriousness of climate change, the most ‘consequential, urgent, sweeping’ problem the world faces. She has said she wants the United States to be the ‘clean energy superpower of the 21st century.’ ”

Quad City Times, IA -Presidential endorsement: Clinton is the only option for president

“Clinton deals in reality. She discusses climate change as the very real threat that it is.”

Salt Lake Tribune - Editorial: In the end, Hillary Clinton is the only qualified candidate, and the best choice

“She sees the threats of terror abroad, gun violence at home and climate change globally and has plans to address all of that, and more.”

Athens News, OH - Clinton is the far superior option; she deserves your vote

“Trump is wrong on nearly every issue … his casual dismissal of global warming and wholehearted embrace of the fossil-fuel industry’s self-aggrandizing agenda would surrender the United States’ leadership in the fight against climate change.”

WIRED - Wired Endorses Optimism

“She intends to uphold the Paris Agreement on climate change and reduce carbon emissions by up to 30 percent in 2025. She hopes to produce enough renewable energy to power every American home by the end of her first term.”

Pharos Tribune, IN -OUR VIEW: Endorsement: Clinton is clear choice for president

“Clinton sees global climate change as an ‘urgent threat.’ Trump denies the scientific evidence flat out, and wants to pull out the of 2015 Paris Agreement”

Concord Monitor, NH -Editorial: Clinton is right choice for president

“Clinton offers the best hope, no matter what the outcome in Congress, that the nation will make progress on immigration reform, climate change, reducing health care and education costs, improving infrastructure and shrinking the vast income disparity that threatens democracy itself.”

New York Times -Why Donald Trump should not be president

“He would upend the Obama administration’s progress on the environment, vowing to ‘cancel the Paris climate agreement’ on global warming.”

Sacramento Bee -The many reasons to support Clinton, not just stop Trump

“On the generational issue of climate change, while Trump suggests it’s a hoax and vows to tear up hard-won international agreements, Clinton would build upon the Paris accord and focus even more on clean energy, which will generate good jobs instead of more carbon.”

Los Angeles Times - Hillary Clinton would make a sober, smart, and pragmatic president. Donald Trump would be a catastrophe

“Unlike Trump, Clinton accepts the prevailing science on climate change and considers the issue to be ‘the defining challenge of our time.’ … Trump’s ignorance of the issues is manifest. He has called climate change “a hoax” and vowed to renegotiate the Paris climate accord.”

Foster’s Daily Democrat, NH -Our view: Clinton is best candidate for president

“We like what she’s fighting for – broad prosperity achieved by public investment in education and clean energy”

Boston Globe - Hillary Clinton for President

“Meanwhile, the threat from climate change grows, and Clinton is the only presidential candidate in 2016 with any workable ideas for how to fight it. Climate change is no longer an abstract problem, as storms grow more severe and insurance rates rise in coastal areas like Massachusetts.”

Akron Beacon Journal, OH - Beacon Journal editorial board endorsement: Hillary Clinton for president

“... what matters in a presidency is its general tilt, evident in Clinton when she talks about such things as race and justice, the threat of climate change and who should sit on the Supreme Court.”

San Francisco Chronicle - Chronicle recommends: Hillary Clinton for president

“Only one of the major-party nominees, Clinton, accepts the overwhelming scientific consensus that climate change is caused by human activity, is upon us, and threatens life as we know it in myriad ways. The need to extend and expand the Obama administration’s progress on curbing carbon emissions is imperative: for the environment, for the economy and for national security.”

Detroit Free Press -Free Press Endorsement: Hillary Clinton is a prepared, mature choice

“Trump’s cynical campaign to fan Americans’ darkest suspicions about one another poses a threat more dangerous than his chronic dishonesty, demeaning rhetoric and backward thinking about issues as diverse as abortion, nuclear combat and climate change.    …

That is among the strongest reasons this newspaper chooses to endorse HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON”

The New Yorker -The New Yorker Endorses Hillary Clinton

On the existential issue of climate change, Clinton has pledged to pursue the Congress-proof path that Obama has set off on. She would carry out his so-called Clean Power Plan, a series of regulations designed to reduce carbon emissions from the electricity sector, which is currently in litigation. She has called for the installation of half a billion solar panels by 2020—producing roughly five times the amount of solar power currently generated—and, most ambitiously, she has said that she would put the U.S. on track to reduce overall emissions eighty per cent by 2050.”

Modesto Bee, CA -Hillary Clinton should be our next president

“Donald Trump says climate change is a hoax, denying its role in California’s unprecedented drought, Florida’s ferocious hurricanes and deadly heat waves; Clinton would build on the Paris accord and focus on creating clean energy.”

The Star-Ledger, NJ -Clinton for president: Why we need a landslide

“Trump believes climate change is a hoax invented by the Chinese to drag down America. He answers the core challenge to the global environment with an adolescent conspiracy theory. Hillary Clinton respects the scientific consensus, and offers concrete steps to reduce emissions.”
